Cerebral Angiogram - Bump
Jan 31st, 2006 at 5:48pm

Hi all,

A quick question, its been about 1.5 weeks since I had my angio. About two days ago, I started to get a hard bump where the incision was. My doctors told me not to worry. Have any of you exerienced this?

Thanks,
Greg

I was misdiagnosed with MM in March of 2005. In January 2006, I was told it is not MM, but rather a massive restriction in the MC1 segment of my left carotid artery.

Yes, you are correct, I forgot to add the word groin....

I was just wondering if this was normal, as I am a newbie to the angiogram thing.

Thanks again!

Hello,
Yes, to my surprise I also got a lump and was told that  was normal, it went away after a week.

Hi Greg

I too have a lump in the groin area - it is not painful, but I am conscious of it and it is "uncomfortable". My angio was last October...... I have had 2 ultrasounds and have been told there is nothing to worry about.

The bump could be the angioseal device.  When my child gets an angiogram the drs put in an angioseal plug like device that dissolves over three months. it feels like a bump.

All,

Thanks for the comments.....the bump has significantly reduced in size of the past few days.

Desdemona...unfortunately, my doctors don't use the angioseal.....

Thanks again,
Greg

Greg,

Glad to hear the bump is going down.  ;Grin  I know I have to, but I'm not looking forward to my cerebral angiogram this coming May.

p.s.  I had to do a blood test the other day, and it took them 3 pokes and 2 lab techs to accomplish this!  One in my left arm, then my left hand, and then finally in my right hand (above my knuckles).  Just think, this is only with a pediatric butterfly needle.  Can you imagine what I go through with an IV?  That's why I think I'm so needle phoebic.  Shocked

Shan,

If it makes you feel any better, I only have one vein in my right arm where they can take blood. Last summer, they actually had to stop doing various bllod tests for about 4 weeks to let that area heal....good thing the doctors knew that they were causing all of the holes....otherwise, I would have looked like a junky.

I hate to say, but I used to have a needle phobia, but after the last year, its so routine that it doesn't bother me that much....I actually told the doctor to install a beer-like tap, that way it would make his life easier for the blood work.

Good luck with the angio.....all that I can say is that it was A LOT EASIER than I expected.....better living through chemistry. The hardest part was lying still for 6 hours. But, I must admit that I am glad that the angio is behind me.
